Electric cars historically have been difficult to compare in terms of peak power. There was no standard methodology in measuring electric drivetrain power curve, and it is easy to achieve elevated power for limited amount of time, at the expense of longevity of power electronics and batteries.

Car manufacturers, however, have become more honest in the way they report electric drivetrain power, and any given amount of "electric horsepower" are now yielding similar performance as same amount of internal combustion horsepower.

This may still not be the case for smaller, boutique electric car makers, therefore, some of the power figures in this list should be taken with pragmatic skepticism.
