Actually the power output is 345 horsepower and 350 LBS FT of torque, also I saw and heard a C5 Corvette with aftermarket exhaust the other day, the driver floored the gas pedal after braking for someone pulling into the parking lot of my church, that Corvette's engine and exhaust note made my heart race, it sounded awesome. 8D

Unfortunately most (70% or thereabouts) Corvettes are sold with automatic transmissions. Therefore it is good to see the auto box tested on tracks. Back when I owned a C5 it was a six speed manual, but then I am a bit more of an enthusiast driver than most. I actually used mine in competition (I had an extra set of wheels with Hoosier road race tires), but most Corvettes are doomed to lives of cruising slowly with an old wealthy dude at the wheel trying to look cool.

Corvette always go auto. Z06 suffes from grinding poor shifting and C6 fifth gear shiting problems, snapring transmission failures.

hey randy, my dad just picked up one of these, wondering what the zip tie mod is, thanks!

My '98 C5 3.15 auto with only ziptie mod (so 99% stock) is 0-100 in 4.98 sec and 0-160km/h in 11.25 sec 1/4 mile in 13.0-13.3 and top speed of 288km/h tested with gps in Germany ( maybe if I tried for a longer time it would probably go over 290km/h)

A C5 is much better than what's posted here. C5's are wicked fast, especially the Z06 versions. The M6 Coupe runs the quarter mile in low 13's and does 0-60 in 4.7 seconds. Top speed is about 300kmh.

Why did they test the automatic? And 5.6 0-62? That's fishy even for an automatic convertible. I'd like to see an unbiased and reasonably skilled corvette driver take a manual c5 base coupe on these tracks. It should at least be able to hang with an E46 M3.
