Front wheel drive hatch-back is not exactly the car type that comes to mind first when we think about speeds records.
Despite that, in Europe hatch-back body type is very popular. Mainly because of its versatility rather than any inherit performance advantage.
Due to popularity, several sub-niches of the compact hatch-back have emerged in the European market. One such niche is the performance hatch-back or so called "hot hatch".
"Hot hatches" are more powerful versions of their regular (or non "hot") siblings, and with more power comes more top speed.
Performance-conscious "hot-hatch" buyer will appreciate high top-speed, even if he or she will never have a chance to travel at such speeds.

Maybe braincells? ;) Also boss, do us a favour? Please delete the Koenigsegg CC8S 1/4 mile time please? It's completely incorrect and a manufacturer claim only! I scanned in an original Autocar and Motor full verified test. It's 2.3 seconds difference!
